Alaina "Lainy" Sharpe, born on December 4, 2010. The oldest of 3 girls, she was a devoted sister to Aria and Alexis and the beloved daughter of Tony and Angelica. Lainy had an adventurous spirit and a love for travel. She embraced every new experience with excitement and curiosity, always eager to explore new places and create lasting memories. Lainy always found joy in the journey, no matter where it led. A talented artist, she cherished time spent painting and used art as a way to bring beauty into the world around her. Lainy loved makeup and skincare, another form of art which allowed her to express herself creatively. In particular, she loved doing her nails, picking colors and designs that reflected her vibrant personality.
Diagnosed with a rare form of childhood cancer in 2023, Lainy began her fight Throughout her treatment, she was inspired by her fellow pediatric patients, and knew she wanted to do something to help give back to the kids fighting alongside her. She helped raise funds to open a Play Zone at her local hospital, where kids could get away and do "normal" kid things, like play video games and do arts and crafts. She also unveiled "Lainy's Garden" which serves as a peaceful sanctuary for patients to to get outside and take a break from their rooms. Lainy dreamed of becoming a pediatric oncology nurse, inspired by her incredible team of doctors, nurses and patients, who filled her journey with love and compassion.
Lainy was just 14 years old when she passed away after her courageous battle with cancer. Her faith carried her through the hardest moments and she lived each day with love, grace, compassion and unwavering hope. Though her time here was brief, Lainy's bright spirit and kindness left an everlasting mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
To honor her legacy, the Lainy's Light Foundation will continue her mission of bringing hope, faith and support to children and families facing pediatric illness. Lainy's love and light will continue to shine, offering help and encouragement to those in need.
